The American Philatelic Society will offer a one-day On the Road Course February 16, 2017 titled “Detecting Damaged, Altered, and Repaired Stamps.” The course, taught by Michael Ball and Scott Murphy, takes place just prior to the Aripex at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, Arizona.
The course will teach participants how to protect themselves when acquiring stamps. The course will strengthen your collecting know how by helping you answer questions such as:
• Is that mark across the corner of your stamp a repair or was it made by the printer?
• Is your stamp really a used Scott 315 ($1,250 value) or is it a trimmed 304 ($2.25 value)?
• Are the crackled markings on the back of your stamp from being regummed?
The course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (lunch on your own) and the registration deadline is January 20. Register early because class sizes are limited.
