Milcopex 2016 will be held September 16-18, 2016, at the Crowne Plaza Milwaukee Airport Hotel, 6401 South 13th Street (take College Ave. exit from I-94). Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking is free and admission to the show is $2 on Friday and Saturday. Free admission on Sunday.
Milcopex is the largest postage stamp show held annually in Wisconsin. It is part of the American Philatelic Society’s World Series of Philately. The exhibitor winning the grand award will be invited to participate in the Champion of Champions competition at APS Stamp Show 2016.
The show will have a bourse of 20+ dealers offering a wide range of U.S. and worldwide philatelic material. The U.S. Postal Service will have a presence at the show on Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be exhibits, meetings, educational seminars, and an interactive youth/beginner area. Several silent auctions are scheduled for Saturday. Non-competitive exhibits by Wisconsinites focus around the alphabet letter “F.”
France and Colonies Philatelic Society will meet on Friday and include a PowerPoint presentation “Algerian Stamped Postal History to 1876” by Ken Nilsestuen. Ed Bergen will be available on Saturday and Sunday to autograph copies of his book “Walt Disney’s First Superstar: Mickey Mouse.” The book depicts early Mickey items from his philatelic exhibit of the same name.
Visiting societies at the show include France and Colonies Philatelic Society, Alliance Francaise de Milwaukee and representation from the American Philatelic Society, the American Topical Association, and the Wisconsin Federation of Stamp Clubs.
The theme of this year’s show is Celebrating the Philately of La Belle Epoque. Cachet covers will be sold.
