The new United States Holiday Windows forever stamps were issued nationwide October 6 in New York City. The stamps debuted during the American Stamp Dealers Association fall National Postage Stamp Show.

The four stamps were issued in a double-sided pane of 20 (convertible booklet format).

October — National Stamp Collecting Month

You know what month it is, so this is the perfect time to celebrate stamps, our ambassadors of art, culture, and people.

Phil A. Telic, the American Philatelic Society’s wisest and most senior member (APS member No. 1886) offers some great advice to embrace philately.

“No matter what you collect — your hometown’s postal history, holidays on stamps, classic U.S. issues, or freaks and oddities — it’s personal,” Phil A. Telic says. “But that makes it all the more fun and worthwhile to share with others.”

And, there are so many ways and places you can share the hobby during National Stamp Collecting Month, which the U.S. Postal Service first proclaimed in 1981.

Holiday Windows Stamps at ASDA Show in NYC

The American Stamp Dealers Association, Inc. is hosting it’s National Fall Postage Stamp Show, October 6–9 at the New York Hilton Midtown, 1335 Avenue of the Americas, 6th Avenue and 53rd Street, New York, New York. Show hours are Thursday–Saturday 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Admission is free.

The bourse will feature:
• a U.S. Postal Service Holiday Windows first day ceremony, October 6 at 11 a.m.
• 25+ dealers
• John Pendeault’s two-frame exhibit “The Effect of the Civil Unrest on Iceland Mail”
• a free appraisal service available 10 a.m.–3 p.m. each day will put a value on your material and advise you on what to do. To participate in this service, check in at the ASDA Booth located at the show entrance.

The American Philatelic Society will have a booth staffed by Wendy Masorti, APS Director of Internet Sales and Webmaster. She also will have a seminar on “How to buy and sell online.”
