The Sescal Stamp Show, sponsored by the Federated Philatelic Clubs of Southern California, will be held September 23 to 25 at the Hilton LAX Hotel, 5711 W. Century Blvd., Los Angeles, California. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free and there is a reduced self-parking rate of $9 with validation.
A first-day-of-sale ceremony for the Eastern Tailed-Blue Butterfly stamp will take place Saturday, September 24 at 11 a.m. at the show.
There will be two Schuyler Rumsey Philatelic auctions: Sale No. 70, The Skywalk Collection of Nova Scotia Stamps and Postal History, starts at 10 a.m. Friday; and Sale No. 71, the Sescal General Sale, starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The general sale will have 2,000 lots of strong postal history, including transatlantic mails, specialized advertising covers, further offerings of the Doc Bilyeu estate with Oregon territory and Western material, and Part II of the Nicholas M. Kirke off-cover N.Y. foreign mail cancels.
